Is Modi Govt. making mockery of Yoga?

The Modi Govt. is likely to play a cruel joke on the ‘International Yoga Day’, which is to be held on the coming 21st June, 2015. To popularize the Physical Science, the Yoga, in the Universe, the Modi Govt. may take the credit for adopting several means, but the Modi Govt. took no initiation, in the last one year, to promote the Yoga, through their Ministry of AYUSH, which was suppose to deal with the propagation of the Indian Physical Science, in the country.

Unfortunately, it is the problem with the PM Modi, whatever effort he makes; it is always to hit the Headlines of the media, in the case of celebration of International Yoga Day, nothing concrete approaches were made to promote the Yoga, in India, in the last one year of their government.

It is a pertinent question that if someone want to learn Yoga or try to become expertise on this subject, he won’t find a single University in the country, who are offering Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Science’s (PGDYS), nor there is any academic curriculum on this subject, except some TV classes, which are creating more harm to the ancient subject, which was invented by the sage Patnajali.

The ministry of AYUSH, who was being entrusted for the job for the propagation of the Yoga, did nothing concrete, in this regard. Whereas, the hard reality have belied the nation that the said ministry could not even utilize the entire fund, which was allotted by the Govt. for this purpose.

It is amazing to observe that the Govt. of India, through their budget for the period of 2014-2015, have sanctioned an amount of 318 Crores of rupees to the ministry of ASYUSH for the advertisement and publicity, related treatments and other research job, but the ministry have consumed only 43% of the allotted fund, but, do not ask the Modi Govt., where the 43% of the fund were being expensed.

If the media is to be believed, the Modi Govt. is going to expense a fantastic amount of 200 Crores of rupees for celebrating the extravagant show for the ‘International Yoga Day’, while ignoring the basics infrastructure for the growth and popularizing the unique physical sciences of the country.

If the Modi Govt. is really serious for the Yoga Science’s, initially it need to promote Yoga, as Physical Science, without a religious touch. The Govt. also need to introduce a curriculum for the school going students, which could be carried out through their Central Schools and, also, to create more expertise on this subject, through their Central University’s for the development of Yoga Science’s.
